Senses are tools, which inspire artists to reveal an idea or emotion. The thumping or
whistling heard at the local bus station are an inspiration for some, or possibly the smell of
clean paint on canvas for others, but for me inspiration comes from what I see. I have discovered
the sense of sight to be the most powerful of all the senses, for without vision the
world seems to lack truth. Therefore, as an artist, I see no greater method for revealing my
stories than through vision and that is why I am a photographer.
I am a storyteller entrusted with people’s most treasured stories. Fortunately, I have been
gifted with the ability to understand and capture people in my work, which is why within the
realm of photography I have chosen portraiture.With portraits my story feels complete because
they include the human element. Naturally people have a deeper connection and understanding
when the human element is represented. The universality of emotion is a language,
which all of humanity speaks and therefore, my story can be all encompassing and told
around the world without fear of my message being lost in translation and a strong bond
between artist and subject cannot be broken. Thank you to all of those who have trusted

Artist Bio:

Sarah Jane Sanders is a graduate from the University of Kentucky and received a degree
in New Media. She currently co-owns SANOLA, an international photography company
with Aurelia Gerardo in which they specialize in portraits and weddings. In 2009, Sarah
Jane became the recipient of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International's 6th annual
Hy Sheanin Memorial Scholarship, honoring the founder of Rangefinder Publishing and cofounder
of WPPI. This scholarship is devoted to emerging photographers who have displayed
excellence in photography. Sarah has had her work displayed in various galleries
throughout Lexington, KY and has had numerous works published. Through photography
Sarah Jane pushes her boundaries as an artist and continuously feeds her starving curiosity
for the world. As idealistic as it might sound, Sarah Jane hopes to break free from any limitations
of photography and help revolutionize photography (or a piece of it). ‘My art
should be about more than just me, rather my contribution, as an artist, to the world. I want
to use the talent and insight I have to help others’.
