This is soon after you exit the western portal into the main valley of the park. The road descends to the valley floor via a set of switchbacks, and there are places to stop at to get a view into the valley.

This picture is taken at a point fairly high above the valley floor. It is still early enough in the morning that we are in the shadows of the mountain through which the tunnel passes behind us.
