Our first ride

Picture was taken as we were leaving the Highland games. I had actually booked a very small car, but the rental company offered me an upgrade to a car with an automatic gear shift for a very reasonable price, and with that they also upgraded me to a very nice Mercedes A Class vehicle. It was very helpful since I was negotiating the roads of Scotland for the first time in the driver's seat. They drive on the wrong side of the road, you know!

Oh, and the French drive on the right-hand side of the road because Napoleon was left-handed!

Actually, I think you'll find that it is not we who drive on the "wrong" side of the road, since we in Britain were traveling on the left long before there were any roads in north America! This was because, if you passed a stranger on the road you walked on the left to ensure that your protective sword arm was between yourself and him. Driving on the right was adopted by the US to distance itself from its British Colonial past!
