Hot Dogs

West Virginia

Lois White Miller, president of the Mercer County Historic Society, selling hot dogs and baked goods outside Kroger's to raise money.

Lois has been a force to be reckoned with, transforming the Historic Society from a social group to a vital organization with hundreds of new members that are raising money to preserve the history of the county. She has had to contend with a lot of opposition from the older members who are very resistant to change. She handles it with assertiveness and great aplomb.

Nice photo and description. I love hot dogs, too. I'd get mine the same way as you did. Everything. The best.

Karen, Thank you for helping to preserve our Mercer County heritage with your photos. Many people rarely think of West Virginia and when they do it is negative. Thank you for showing the beautiful scenery and the wonderful people and telling both of their stories.

Wonderful candid portrait. Appreciate the historical background as well. We should do more to preserve our history--I am on the board of the local historical society as well. Of course, much of photography preserves, whether intentional or not, scenes of the present for the future. For this reason alone Ansel Adams felt the casual 'snapshot' was very valuable.

A fine woman indeed, we must preseve our history of this word, so much can be learned. Wonderful candid image and again a very fine woman.

Preservation of our history is so important. People sometimes don't realize how important local culture and history is. Glad that she is someone who sees the value and does something about it. Nice image!
