I hate the thought of what this is but as an image this is fabulous. A fun image to explore with all its shapes and curves.

lots of pain and fear here...... glad he uses better traps now

Putting food on the table? trappers used these things mainly for the pelt...if a person is going for food, they don't use traps because the meat is likely to be bad tasting from the death ordeal.

Much less harmful rusting away and becoming PAD fodder.

Nice shot of very inhumane traps. They were a necessity years ago and were used to put food on the table. I don't think that they had as many family pets running loose then and the user checked there traps more often. Like you I would snap the traps when I would come across them when I thought hunting was the sport for recreation. Good thing about these is that they look like they have not been used in a while.

Excellent photo of horrible items. Mankind is the cruelest animal on earth.

Nice shot of man's inhumanity to its fellow creatures. I remember having some of those around Perilloux Place years but I guess people did whatever they could to get food. Oh, and by the way I ate "coon gumbo" once in my life from something from these traps. I cannot imagine eating raccoon today.

Karen this is a great close-up shot..and it gives us something to think about..I hate those sticky tape traps that the critter (mice) gets stuck and and dies trying to get away..v
