Screened In Porch - West Virginia Style

West Virginia

Most people are offended by these kind of stereotypes and jokes about our state.

But when I saw this I just couldn't resist...:)

Let's face it; standards differ from place to place. There's plenty of examples of this in Florida, as well. But the image of Florida cultivated by many people (and I'm one of the cultivators) is of beautful beaches and upscale resort-like homes. Hmmm....maybe I should go photograph some of our "trailer parks" and so forth....

Poverty is rarely a pretty sight. Good work, Karen.

I have followed you pictures with great joy. While I'm from Michigan and have traveled some north and south. There are not many state that don't have older and smaller town. One just has to get off the expressways. Picture such as your town and area are every where I've been. By the way I love your pictures very much keep taking them. Be proud of your photos and the area and people. They are just there ,well everywhere and by taking photos of them you do not demean the people orthe place. Look at the picture during of the depression. Wonderful picture, Dorthea Lang and Walker Evens, to name but two. Look up their photos if you havent they are great.
I would much rather see your photos than another sunset, Yellowstone National Park, or waves on a beach.

Best to you and I'll keep following your great work.
ps I sent your Pbase address to a friend in England.
