This gallery is dedicated to our best friend Jupi, a Dalmatian who spend with us more than 16 years.
He died today December 3, 2009...

HEAVEN'S DOGGY-DOOR

My best friend closed his eyes last
night, As his head was in my hand.
The Doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through
my head, As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And OH...his many charms.

Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Lovely tribute to your best friend. I wish I would have had a digital camera many years ago when I lost three of my best friends. I know the feeling when you have your pet in your arms and they look at you and you both know this is the end. Still brings tears to my eyes.

There is something so special about our bond with dogs, and it is so hard to accept that we will outlive them. But the love we share is worth the loss, and they teach us to live every moment with zest and joy, and appreciate the important things in life: unconditional love and true companionship. My sympathies and hope that God sends another friend who needs your special love.

So sorry for you.We had the same experience with our little chihuahua who had a heart illness.3 years ago we specially flew to Germany with her from Cape Town were we live to get the best treatment but she passed away at the doctors room in our arms just after arriving there.Hope that you can bear the pain better then we can.

Today it is a month since Jupi passed away... and we would like to thank you all for your kind words... This gallery has been visited more than 2000 times, so we have decided to try and publish some pictures of him when he was younger. You can expect them soon... Our connection with your terrible loss of a dear friend. Our first dog was a Dal with similar markings and he too crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It is a terrible thing to experience. He is waiting for you.

My Dalmatian lived with me 13 years. When the time came, it took me three calls to the vet over a period of weeks. Every time I called and they answered, I would be too chocked up with tears to speak. I would just hang up. And on the final day as we sat in the vet's waiting room, he backed between my legs where he felt safe, and put his chin upon my knee. Five years later, I still tear up at the thought. My thoughts are with you today, as you share this beautiful memory.

He is a beautiful dog. I am truly sorry to hear about your loss. I know what it is like to be bereft of the companionship of a dog. At least you have the photos, though, I know, it is not the same. Wonderful tribute collection of pictures of your late best friend, my condolences. Touching passage as well. Very nice tribute to your best friend. It's the price we pay for giving our hearts to a loving being who will leave us too soon. I lost my beloved Coco 2 1/2 years ago, it took me a year to commit to a new dog, and now there are 2. It looks like you and Jupi were lucky to have shared your lives with one another. V

Sorry for your loss. Looks like he had a good, full and loved life. Remember the good times. I lost Bala, my Husky/Shepard, 9 yrs in 2005 due to a sudden heart attack while running. The next year I lost Shamus, my 13 yr Retriever/Terrier mix due to cancer. Having the Vet put him to sleep was the hardest thing I ever did, but he fought valiently and better than suffering. I miss them both. I now have Dreamer, a 3 yr, 92 lb Lab (English). A real sweetheart. He now fills my life with love. Never forget, but don't resist getting another pal. Photos of all three on my site. Regards

On the walls of the house are the pics of Pris & Pooka - we lost them almost at the same time. One day I will be with them and the others. In their honor - God has seen that we rescued an adult and a puppy. Beautiful pictures and a beautiful poem.
