Robert Frank is a great Swiss photographer that emigrated to the United States in 1947.His most notable work, the 1958 photographic book titled simply The Americans, was heavily influential in the post-war period.

Besides photography R.Frank concentrated also on making films (Pull my Daisy)and documentaries (The Rolling Stones-Cocksucker Blues).

After that he returned to still images in the 1970s publishing his second photographic book, The Lines of My Hand, in 1972. This work has been described as a "visual autobiography", and consists largely of personal photographs. However, he largely gave up "straight" photography to instead create narratives out of constructed images and collages, incorporating words and multiple frames of images that were directly scratched and distorted on the negatives.

This gallery is influenced by the "third" period of Robert Frank's work,and after having read "Story Lines" (which is a retrospective of the artist's work from the beginning until today).

I have presented here two-frames sequences where the first image is the "before" and the second image is the "after". Time and movement are present in all image duets. I think that in some time all photographers have wanted to render photographically a sequence and one image was never enough.
This is the natural bridge between the two close cousins,photography and cinema.

Many of the images in this gallery already exist in other galleries of mine and some are completely new and will not be presented in any other gallery.

PS: when I'll be a better photographer I'll make three-image sequences,and when I become as good as Robert Frank I'll make sequences of 4 or 5 images :-)
