Hi Shelby, thanks. These two did spot me, but people often don't.
The trick is to not meet their eye after, then they aren't sure if you took their picture.
Aren't I devious. I should be taking pictures of David Beckham in his underwear, on my mobile phone.
Flick.

I like it. I'm envious as I'm much to shy to try something like that. I would need a 1000mm at least :)

Thanks Jono. To answer your question, see my comment below :-)

Interesting - the memorial adds a little poignancy to it all - did he see you taking the shot? or was he just smiling into the distance? It bears further examination, which is always good. jono

Yes, you're right, it was a candid, but they still spotted me taking it even so.
The one smiling thought it was amusing, but his friend was a bit grumpy.
Thank you.
Flick.

Flick, probably these guys would go for your blood if they would see this. I also use the long end of the my zoom lens in such situations. There is some lack in the composition (the tree on the right) but it doesn't means any problem for this picture: it emhasizes that you did a candid, a qucik chance-shot, and this way it adds rather than substracts.
