Electrical sentries by Quentin Bargate

I guess you could say this is the other side of rural living. About 2 miles from us you walk under the cables and see these pylons marching off in to the distance. As an aside, you might also see from this what a staggeringly sharp lens the Nikkor 28-200G is around its optimum aperture.

Kodak DCS Pro 14nx ,Nikkor 28-200G
1/180s f/9.5 at 58.0mm iso160 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Funny you should say that, Tim, because I thought the exact same thing when I processed the image. I think its better with the bulge - Quentin

At first I thought I wanted to see this debarrelised, so as to make the hedgerow straight, but on reflection it's perfect as it is: makes the earth look as if it is bending to the will of the machines! Tim

LOL - glad to see you still aren't tempted to up the saturation :-P
Lovely shot though, and very East Anglian! Jono

Thanks for the feedback guys and gals - yes the hotspot is a sign, says something really useful like "we may be wrong, but it could be a tad risky touching the cables" :-) - Quentin

Magnificent, Quenters.
Rick, the "hot spot" is a notice attached to the pylon. Magnify your screen and you'll see.
Flick.

very nice shot. Out of curiosity, what is the HOT spot in the center of the first level of braces?...LVPG

Great shot Quentin, beautiful deep blue sky and cool perspective. I'm considering the 28-200 myself (see thread on DPReview). You're obviously happy with it's performance? - MHG
