3rd Place Fish Watching by Kate Westrop

Oxford, UK

My elder daughter, instead of studying and revising spends a considerable amount of time watching her pet goldfish. The shot was taken through her mirrored fish tank with the fish swimming across the reflection.

It's hard for me to comment on this image because I was there when you took it, and because I'm an enduring fan of your photography as well as being your friend. However, I really do think this is an outstanding shot. The colour, the light, the depth of field, the pose, the intriguing glimpses of the room....everything comes together here to make for a haunting and original portrait.
Flick.
