NEWARK, NJ - At approximately 7:00pm on December 20, the Newark Fire Department was dispatched to McCarter Highway for an MVA involving a Newark Police cruiser with officer trapped. The cruiser was rear ended while assisting a disabled truck. Members from the Newark Fire Department as well as University Hospital of Medicine and Dentistery's Heavy Rescue Unit exticated the officer.
