Head North out of Dahlonega on US 19 (about 15 minutes) to Turner's Corner (Junction of US 19 and US 129), make a left and continue north on US 19/129 another 5 miles, the park is small and easy to miss, it will be on your left. If you get to Vogel State park, you've gone too far. You're getting close once you pass the "Entering Chattahoochee National Forest" sign. There are two falls, the upper and lower falls, a third higher falls is evidently off limits sine some hurricanes in the mid-1990's. The lower falls is a moderate trail of about .25 miles that is a bit steep in parts and requires a little bit of effort, but is not that bad. There is a small platform for viewing when you reach the falls. It was not crowded when I was there, but more than a handful of people would cause a crowd.
The upper falls is a longer walk of about .5-.75 miles with slight inclines, but fairly easy to navigate. There is a larger platform at the upper falls and this falls is very scenic and can be quite tranquil.
2004 shots taken with Canon Rebel and 28-135IS using a B+W Circluar Polarizer. All were shot RAW and used C1 LE to convert with some sharpening and minor exposure and color correction. Then in PS CS added frame, resized and final sharpening tweak.
2005 Shots taken with 20D and 24-70L processed in PS CS with Bibble Pro and some minor tweaks.
I rate these falls as a 6 with access difficulty of about a 5.
I love your pictures. I hike Desoto Falls quite often. I am lucky enough to be right up the road from it. Your pictures are beautiful, not just these, but all that I have looked at. Thanks for sharing and for giving me some ideas for other waterfalls I need to go see!
