Deep Ford Falls

Deep Ford Falls is on the grounds of the Lake Toxaway Country Club. This is considered a private community, but the gates are usually open, the guard will usually wave you in, and if you ask to see the falls if they stop you, they will usually let you. That being said, to get there from Highlands, or Cashiers, take HWY 64 East until it merges with HWY 281 then continue a few more miles until you see the entrance to the Country Club on your left. Continue inside the country Club for 1.8 miles. You will see a paved road to houses on your left with a sign that says Deep Ford Falls, just BEFORE that road on your left is a small gravel road. You can drive down that gravel road about 100-200 feet and park there. The trail goes straight back. The falls is about 1/3 to 1/2 mile in. You will cross 2 small streams that can be navigated fairly easily wihtout getting wet (assuming there has not been heavy rains) then the last part of the trail will be a little rough and is essentially what I assume is the runoff path from when it rains heavily. the last 50-100 feet is a littel steep and rough, but not too bad.

Well this day was far from ideal. It was misty, foggy and about to rain. These shots were cleaned up best I could to mask out much of the misty haze. Shot with 5D with 24-70L + CP and 20D with 28-135IS + CP.

I rate this falls a 6 and difficulty of about a 4-6(due to the last portion).
