The End-Y2P

So it's over. Some days it was so easy to sit down and crank out a picture, other days a monumental chore. I always felt very remiss when I couldn't stay awake long enough to view everyone's images--not only because I tried to learn something from each one, but also I felt like I hadn't stopped by to say hi to friends. And such friends. Many closer than 'real' acquaintences.
I appreciate all your humor, kindnesses, your helpful critiques, suggestions. I'm fortunate not to have been blasted like so many I've read about on the forums.

And I hope it doesn't start with this one. Another screwup that I was utterly taken with. Playing last night with a red gel, I really didn't get it, but Jill and I continued after I was blown away by the almost silhouettted images in the LCD. She was doing classical posing, dressed as she was for the other images, just going with the flow as is so often what we do.

I desaturated the image, and cloned out the distracting straps and lines and finally softened it, and came up with what I hope you'll consider an artful image. I was so struck with the lines of Jill's legs.

If this gets any nasty remarks or goes way beyond the average Jill hit count (which is a little higher than most posted ones, big surprise) it's gonna get either pulled or password protected.I won't tolerate any gutter language. Can't control the gutter minds, but I'm really hoping for something a little classier.

Definitely artistic. The lines of her back were what drew my attention...moving from dark to light. Just held my attention. And the arch of her feet, of course, is beautiful. V.

Graphic without being graphic. Nice.
Guest 20-Apr-2006 12:40
I LOVE this image. It's delicate, and the model seems to show she's vulnerable, hiding her face, not seeing what happens, which gives the viewer (or at least me), an uneasy feeling. Last: I love the way you see the spinal chord lighted from the side. All in all a splendid image.

Fantastic image, Karen. I need to find a model like Jill.

I missed this one Karen but it's a fine photograph. Very well done.

I can't believe I missed this one. Double wow....for Jill (I'm jealous) and for your talent. Congratulations on the two years...your creativity ant technical talent was evident each day. I came up three months short and concur with your comments. I can't give up my friends, so since you explained P.E.S.O. to me I am happy. Thank you for your friendship and encouragement.

Ending the year on a stunning shot Karen. I find it hard to believe you've done another year already.

I really appreciate the lighting in this shot.

No potty mouth here, but you have done a wonderful job at catpuring an image of a beautiful woman. Congrats on your accomplishment of finishing the PAD.I first discovered your work during the alphabet game.
Guest 26-Mar-2006 14:36
Congratulations for your Y2P. I share your view on time that is too short to see everything the others have done.
Superb picture. I love the light that leaves a lot in the dark.

Great image.
The end???
You should go back and read the comment you left on my March 25th PaD.
You can't quit :^)

Impressive flexibility as well as impresssive photo technique. I just hope you're not serious about "the end." I'll be checking in anxiously tomorrow morning and every morning thereafter!

Karen this image is all good..lighting, form, movement..I would have never known you used PS to remove anything..take time off but hurry back..a big vote for you and Jill...
don nieman26-Mar-2006 11:31
This is very well photographed. The lighting and shadows (john waine's comments) are excellent. The pose is unique and exhibits feeling or an intensity, the tip toe stance adds that, I believe. Don't be a stranger, we learn much from you and enjoy your comments.
Karen Stuebing26-Mar-2006 10:36
Very tastefully done nude. Great pose. I love her hair hanging down like that. And it makes me hurt to look at it. :)
joanteno26-Mar-2006 09:35
Bravo! Congradulations on two years of creativity, excellent photographs, and being such a positive person - always giving a comment that encourage others.
Well done!
JW26-Mar-2006 08:38
First the picture - the most striking element for me is the spine. This must be one of the few poses and angles that makes a feature of this part of the body - and it has teseted your lighting. Of course you have it spot on - the verterbrae in the highlight produce a shadow, those in the shadow are highlighted - excellent.

Second, Y2P. You have been such an influence on me and many others. A link in the chain from digital-PBase-PAD that has inspired us to do better. Their are plenty of excellent photographers within PAD and plenty of supportive members of the community, but few have combined both roles as you have. We thank you -it's the end of an era!

We look forward to your P.E.S.O. with relish, and trust that Jill will not be too far away.

A vote for this 'Spinal PAD' LOL ;-)

Excellent work as always Karen. Excellent way to end your second year. I've hardly begun my first but I've come to love the challenges and the friendships developed along the way. Hope to see and hear a lot more from you. By the way this image gets my vote--excellent work.
Sheila26-Mar-2006 06:18
Congratulations Karen on your 2 years of PaD. It can be jolly hard work. I hope you are going to start a P.E.S.O.

Congrats on the Y2P. I have not a clue what you did to achieve this photo but whatever...you did very well. (Boy, wish I could get in that position.)
Guest 26-Mar-2006 04:58
Wonderful image, Karen. I like the PS work, and the lighting is excellent. Congrats on year two, don't know how anyone manages a single month! And like to many others, you've been a great inspiration and friend. But think we can talk you into year Three? :)

And Karen, thank you for always stopping by and commenting on my photos. I'm almost 5months into Y2P and find it's very very difficult to come up w/ a daily photo, shot on that day.
