Generally speaking, travel books and guides fall into one of at least two categories; armchair travel and turn by turn travel. Tom Snyder's Route 66 Traveler's Guide successfully melds the two. While not an exhaustive guide to the sights along Route 66, certainly the highlights are there, and turn by turn directions are included where necessary. A fair amount of historical information is presented, and delivered with large doses of humor. A practical and useful guide.
