It is interesting to compare this shot with my own image of the same people athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/95782807 . It teaches us about the effect of color on meaning. In this case, the color is beautiful, which adds irony to their sad condition. I used black and white to remove the color and stress the pain. Your image is blurred due to camera shake, which adds immediacy and tension to their plea. Her little hand seems to be moving as it begs for money. Very sad stuff -- made from a bus window, just as mine. I abstract my image twice over, once by using black and white, and then again by shooting when the baby becomes more of a prop and less of a person, by turning its head. We end up telling two different stories here, Kathy.
