After climbing to the top of the Eastern Hill, Ivy and I peeked into an open door. We were immediately invited inside to share some tea with the people gathered there.
During the next few minutes we realized we had stumbled upon a rare get-together of Miao dignitaries who themselves had not met as a group before.
We were in fact in the Miao "Gu Zang Tou" (spiritual leader, Miao King)'s home. Also present were the mayor of nearby Kaili (also a Miao by birth) and the Miao prefecture party leader.
The meeting was being recorded by a University Professor from Guiyang University who had arranged for the meeting and who was doing research on the Miao people and their history.
