Ulva Island, New Zealand-1635
Weka are usually heard, not seen, although some birds that live near tramping huts, get a reputation for pilfering food and other small objects. New Zealand has four subspecies that are in the same family as Rails. One of my favorite birds to photo as you never know how they will behave.
