The founder of modern Israel is David Ben Gurion. He spent the last years of his life on a Kibbutz in the Negev Desert. We traveled to the Kibbutz that is now a national park and boarded 4 wheel drive trucks for a trip in the Negev.
In this picture are camels running wild in the desert. We'd call'em mustangs if they were horses.

These are ibex. They seem perfectly happy in the desert climate. We are near the Ben Gurion Center and there would be water available on the center's grounds.

There are lots of Red and some White stone cliffs to see as we begin our travel. We will end the trip in a Wadi, preach, eat lunch and then return.

We turned a corner and I looked up to see this cliff.

This is our road to travel deep into the Negev. I felt right at home. I've been on a few of these.

A Wadi from a distance. Wadi is the Arabic term referring to a valley; in some cases it may refer to a dry riverbed that contains water only during times of heavy rain. Just like southern Utah.

As we enter the Wadi we see palm trees close up. There are no Latinos here to trim the trees. Shows you what we'd miss if we didn't have them around. Un trimmed palm trees have a much fuller look.

There is some really interesting brush in this area. Here's an example.

The end of the line and maybe five miles from the Ben Gurion Center. We had dismounted from the trucks and begun a short walk into the deepest part of the Wadi. The weather was really pleasant. But then it was the beginning of November. This is not Minnesota or Norway for that matter.
