Neal twisted his right ankle. He was advised not to take off his hiking shoe by a Himalaya hiking guide who was on the trail with us. Neal did not take off his shoe. The emergency medical people that we met later on the trail told me if Neal had taken off his shoe he would never get it back on. Neal would have to be carried off the mountain with a swollen foot. Good advise to keep you boots on if you want to walk off the mountain.
