Prince Vessanthara and his family are exiled to the forests after he selflessly gave away his Kingdom's White elephant. Part of the Jataka tale enacted during the Bun Phawet festival. Jataka tales are morally edifying stories of the Buddha's previous lives, of which the story of the selfless Vessanthara is the last one before being born as the historical Buddha.
