yak in thai comes from the word yaksha, or female yakshi, the tutelary deities keeping off evil in indian villages since ancient times. Unlike in the west, monsters and dragons in Asia are protectors and propitiators. Their agressive, scary features are a symbol of our personal energies, which can be saddled to either do right or wrong, defending or aggressing.
