Message from Kim McCormick
Welcome to my photo gallery!
Most of the photos in this collection were taken in or near Seattle, WA, and are of raptors found in urban and suburban settings. Merlins are my primary interest, though I also enjoy observing and photographing Cooper's Hawks and other raptors. All photos are digiscoped (taken with a camera attached to my spotting scope).
In April 2008, my son Mason and I found a pair of Merlins courting in North Seattle. This was the first known breeding pair of Merlins in Seattle (Seehttp://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008065173_merlins22m0.html). The pair successfully raised 5 young Merlins each year for three consecutive years (2008, 2009, and 2010). Unfortunately, their nest failed in 2011. The Merlin photos in my galleries are of the North Seattle breeding pair and their offspring, as well as other Merlins wintering and/or breeding in the Seattle area.
I am in the process of updating the galleries. Please check back periodically for additional photos.
For more photos of Merlins and other Washington birds, please see Marv Breece's pbase gallery,https://pbase.com/marvbreece/.
Thank you,
Kim
