Kaohsiung Lighthouse (1)

Due to the defeat of Chinese Army of Qing Dynasty in 1860, the Chinese government agreed to open four ports for foreign trade. Takau Harbour (later Port of Kaohsiung) was one of these ports.
In order to facilitate the frequent navigations, the British engineers built a Chinese-style rectangular red-brick lighthouse at the top of Mount Ki-au (the north corner of Cijin Island).
