We caught a couple of these fellows with streamers. Neither Mark nor I had seen this particular species of fish before. A bit of research revealed that we had caught some "Northern Pikeminnows"! Until recently, these fish were known as the "Northern Squawfish", but the American Federation of Fisheries changed the name. Not particularly well-regarded as either a game fish, or as table fare, these fish can get as big as 28 pounds. Found in Alberta only in the Peace River drainage, but common in BC.
