With Rob and Sage! We go to Gleichen to get permits... it's $30 for the boat and $75 per person. Ouch. Oh well, at least we were legal as far as the tribe was concerned (leaving aside for the moment the question of whether we would have been legal in law without a permit). We leave Red Deer at seven and we're on the water by 10:30. The detour to get the permits is a bit time consuming. The river is flowing at approx 100cms; 2'-3' of visibility. Beautiful fine weather day; mostly light winds... and the fishin' is SLOW. We land half a dozen, lose a few more. Mostly on streamers, BRB, raghead, Gartside (white!) - Sage actually does pretty good with a spinning rod and Mepps Gold "Aguila". We motor down into the reserve, motor back up, off the water at 8:30 or so.
