Deer are such shy animals! Often, as soon as they catch the scent of a human, their white tails go up in a flash and they run. At times like this I am reminded that wildlife photography is almost like hunting. The only differences are: you use a camera instead of a gun, it does not matter what season it is, and you bring the animal back alive. I am still trying to capture my trophy buck! (with my camera of course)
