Temple child ..Angkor

I worried about this little girl; there were a group of them, most of them were smiling and giggling. She tried hard for this smile ... but her eyes were quite empty.

This image lept out at me. I understand completely what you mean; covering the lower half of her face, we see that her eyes are far away. She isn't present, she's somewhere else. The natural and plain quality of this image drew me to it. It's so stripped and uncomplicated...and yet it lies. This girl is not happy, but her lips turn up at the corners. Magnetic, intriguing, captivating. v
