Burma (Myanmar)

In all my travels, I found the Burmese warm, gentle, beautiful, and..downtrodden and abused.
You can travel there without supporting the government; plan your trip with thought.
The people want to meet you. Take an extra bag, fill it with pencils, books, pens; find a school and donate.
Take money, $100 US will build a whole school room, give it directly to the school.
You CAN make a difference.

i made a trip to yangon and mandalay more than a decade ago in 1995. its an amazing country, one that is almost lost in time. the people are, like you say, warm and gracious, and very religious. its an amazing country, and thank you for bringing back these memories.
