Wittenberg is the founding city of the Lutheran Christian denomination of churches. Lutheranism began when Martin Luther, in 1619, famously nailed a list of 95 theses on the door of the castle church, denouncing the Roman church's selling of "indulgences" which allowed "sinners" to bypass Purgatory.
While in Wittenberg, we also visited the home of Regina & Günther Rösner, who had volunteered to show us their home and tell us something about life in East Germany before and after the demise of the Iron Curtain.
