Sveta Troitsa (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in Ruse. This church was built during the time of the Muslim Ottoman domination when rules specified that Orthodox churches could exist but their height might not exceed the height of a mounted Turk. This rule was not strictly applied, but nevertheless, this church is entered by going down a flight of stairs so that half of the nave's height is underground.
