Wild Horses of Placitas

Bands of wild horses roam the hills north of Placitas, NM on BLM land. Bands include a stallion, one or more mares and their young. These horses have been known in the area since the 60s. The BLM area is not a designated wild horse management area, but advocates for the wild horses have been trying to get such a designation. There are around 250 wild horses in the Placitas area.
