The white-walled fort overlooks the island's small town and harbor. The forts here and at Mackinaw City have been restored and are managed as living history sites by the state park service. Fort staff are appropriately dressed for their period roles. The aromas of soups and breads are on the air, yarn is spun, stories told, gardens tended and cannons fired.
