My wife and I were married in Chapel #2 on June 15, 1968. In seven weeks, we're going to Mineral Wells for our 50th anniversary. I would greatly appreciate any information on the status of the chapel. I understand that it is still there, but is there any way to get inside? Does anyone have names or contact information regarding this or other buildings at Ft. Wolters?

Not for sure this is true but I have been told that my wife and I were the last couple to be married in this Chapel on Dec. 1, 1972. I was in the last Flight School class at Ft. Wolters before US Army move the entire flight school program to Ft. Rucker.
Franklin... any chance you stayed at Ft. Wolters an extra day to marry us? Thought I remembered a story that you did and left right after wedding.

If I remember correctly, this was called "Chapel of Flags." Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Tom Landry spoke there when I was about 9 or 10 years old.

Spec 4 David L. Carlson and I, Joyce M. (Lemke) were marrid in Camp Wolters Chapel on Oct. 15, 1965. The minister forgot he was to marry us and he had sat down to a chicken dinner. We had to send a friend to his home and get him. I, threatened to change into my wedding gown in the sanctuary but the minister arrived in time. Fond memories of Mineral Wells, Texas and the friends we made are still in my heart almost 47 yeats later
