Thanks for your awsome pictures, I worked at the Base in 1967,68,69. Lived in Mineral Wells Tx until 1970, the base was a large part of my live. Looks so sad to see it like this now.

I used to deliver pizza in the area, and many of these barracks are not abandoned. In fact, it looks like this barrack has a mailbox and a chair in front - although it looks in bad shape, chances are good it is inhabited. Some of them are fixed up fairly nice, but the majority that are lived in are not in good shape (and these people ordered pizza quite frequently). It is just like Mineral Wells: once it was a good city full of industry, then it all fell apart when the base closed and the major factories (Phillips) went to China, and now it is full of run down trash. It is a shame really, although I had a lot of fun as a teenager exploring through all of the stuff at the base.

I'm not sure how much you know about this area, but are all the original camp buildings presently abandoned?
