A traditional wedding in the Lanten (or Yao Mun) village of Ban Nam Lue. I have to date documented many different events and ceremonies in this village, but never a Lanten wedding. The first day, we awaited the arrival of the groom's party (Minus the groom himself) from another village about 80 km to the east. They were received, some Tao ceremonies were performed, meals were had , singing and drinking. The next morning, the grooms party took the bride back to the grooms village, where the second part of the wedding took place. I photographed this as part of my Luang Namtha photodocumentary project, and to add to the collection of the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre in Luang Prabang, Laos. www.taeclaos.org
