Mick and I went on the second Memorial 911 Ride from the Pentagon to Ground Zero in August 2002 (the first being in October 2001). The ride actually started in Pennsylvania, with riders driving down to Arlington, then riding back up with the rest of us. What an emotional weekend.
The first two galleries here are from that weekend.
The third gallery, "The New Old Glory," is from the day Mick and I took the new flag to the Alexandria City Jail, which at that time housed the only known 9-11 terrorist. Mick drove the beltway outside the jail every day and saw how the flag was becoming more ragged day by day and was determined to have a new one fly over that jail. We drove down there on the bike to deliver it. I snapped the shots of the men raising the New Old Glory. Another remarkable experience.
