The Morning Chorus

I heard these geese as I left the house this morning.
There are two very large ponds at the edge of town, and I knew that they were probably circling them.
As I was getting into my car I heard several shotguns go off.

I drove to within sight of the ponds and parked. I could not see the hunters but I could hear them calling the geese.
The geese wanted to land on the water, but they seemed to know not to.
They were flying fairly high most of the time.

Several years ago I stepped out our back door just as it had gotten dark, to take out the trash,
and I heard some geese flying very low just over our house.
It was an almost magical experience as they were very close, but I could not see them.
I swear I could hear the air movement from their wings.

I always enjoy hearing there "squawky singing".
