SRB Separation

An extreme enlargement, taken just after separation of the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs). You are looking straight up into the main engines of the shuttle, the large bright spot near the middle of the image. The SRBs are the two white objects just above and to either side of the shuttle. SRB separation occurs at an altitude of approximately 16,000 ft. The quality of the image is so bad because it had to be magnified and cropped so much. The SRBs could barely be seen with the naked eye.

other sizes: small medium original auto
