20 Years of Photojournalism

From 1975 to 1995 I was photographer, then editor and finally publisher of The Banner-Independent, a small weekly newspaper in Booneville, Mississippi. These are some of my favorite photos from those years.

I have alot of family in and around Booneville/Prentiss Co. I would love to find some old pictures of my Family I am Janet Marie(Wages)Benjamin My Mom is Martha Gennell(Copeland)Wages her Family is from Jumpertown/Prentiss Co. the Eaton's & Michaels are all of her Family my great-grandmother was Roda Belle(Eaton)Michaels & her daughter my Grandmother was Martha Etta Michaels she married my Grandfather Ellis Ervin Copeland they lived in Baldwyn on Baldwyn Ripley Rd. Until they passed away Grandaddy died in 1976 or 1977 he was only in his mid 60's and My Grandmother Passed away in the early 1980's I live on Hwy.30 West of Frankstown,in the Geeville Community & thats where my Momma was born and grew up at...I Married David Franklin Benjamin Fred Howard Benjamin & Sara(Morris)Benjamin son and we have lived here almost 29 years.If you can help me with this Quest I sure would appreciate it...Thanks Janet Marie(Wages)Benjamin 210 Hwy. 30 W. What a wonderful variety of photos you have taken through the years! I so much admire photojournalists and find myself reading the bylines and following certain photographer's work as I read my daily paper. How I would miss not having a newspaper to start my day! I keep hearing about more and more newspapers that are no longer in business.

Who knew that all those pictures you took of us way back then would bring back such wonderful memories of a much simpler, more wonderful time? It would be great to go back to the Hut and hear the Phinx one more time...

Kenneth, It is great to have had such a professional, chronicle our lives in the 60's and 70's. Who knew those pictures could mean so much to us now. As always, you work is impeccable.

Hi Kenneth, I'm David, Ralphs brother in mantachie, Love your pictures. I have some old pictures of me mike and perry playing if you would like to see them taken in 68. Hope you are ok and feeling good.
