London shoppers

Another grey day in downtown London, near Leicester Square.
My eye was caught by the hustle and bustle, neon lights, and the couple apparently oblivious to the crowds.

Selective desaturation of the buildings, crowd, and cars to emphasize the shop signs and the couple.
I did several versions of this, experimenting with whether to include the color of the silver car's windows and hubcaps, and even the man's blue t-shirt.

For another version, see: Star Wars Grill http://www.pbase.com/katybee/image/45592146

Hi Kimberly,

I like this, I love the grain and the b&w mixed with color. It illustrates how grey and boring a big city can be and also how great and colorfull at the same time.

With kind regards,
Dirk

I like this scene a lot. Well caught and well composed. I like how the place is crowded and how you knew how to catch this couple apart! Selective desaturation works perfectly.

Excellent work. Is there selective desat at work or just the 'grey of London'?

Leicester Square? I see the ubiquitous Selfridges bag. What a brilliantly simple marketing concept. I must have at least a couple of such appearances in my galleries.
