I discovered this plate in a little coastal antique shop.

I didn't realize when I purchased it, that the dragon and phoenix encompassing an arrangement of peonies
symbolizes a harmonious balance of power and beauty similar to yin and yang,
and is often a Chinese wedding gift.

I simply liked the interplay of the design and brilliant cobalt blue color.
I still do.
