The 97 meters high KBC Tower once was the highest 'skycraper' in Europe and was built in 1930 in art deco style.
Nowadays this tower is as much loved as hated by the citizens, although the recent wave of interest for the art-deco period may help to rehabilitate it.
The tower is also known as 'De Boerentoren' (farmers tower) as the majority of the clients of the Kredietbank (which later became KBC) were farmers.
