James Bay

I spent 14 July-1 August 2018 at James Bay conducting shorebird surveys with a large group of folks stationed at three remote field camps under the direction of Christian Friis of the Canadian Wildlife Service. The vast tidal mudflats of James Bay make it a very important stopover for thousands of southbound shorebirds, with the populations of Red Knot, Hudsonian Godwit and White-rumped Sandpiper especially significant at this location.
