Danby Wiske - December 2009

Danby Wiske is a village in the district of Hambleton in North Yorkshire, England. It is the main settlement in the civil parish of Danby Wiske and Lazenby. The village lies on a minor road between the village of Streetlam and the A167 near Northallerton. Danby means the village of the Danes.

The village pub is 'The White Swan'; it lies in the centre of the village, opposite the small village green.
It is often frequented by walkers from the Coast to Coast Walk (C2C) walk, which was pioneered by Alfred Wainwright
The pub was closed by the owners in October 2008, was repossesed, and has recently been sold (July '09), and is expected to resume business in late 2009.

This photo essay shows that work was delayed but is now underway to re-furbish the pub ready for the return of walkers through the village in Spring 2010.
