I took a February, 2006 trip to Costa Rica and Panama that included sailing through the Panama Canal. Unfortunately, neither my technique nor my equipment were what I have now and so I had a higher number of misses than I would have liked - particularly when trying to capture the exotic birds in the relatively dark forest canopies. However, this trip did convince me to keep practicing and that upgrading to higher quality equipment would be worth the investment.

Sorry, I'm not enough of a botanist to identify any of the flowers (though I have since gotten some help).
