Buff-tailed Coronet

Tandayapa

This is about as close as our 300mm lens will focus. Only with the tiniest of subjects did we find that the close focus distance was not quite enough for a frame filling image. If we go back to Ecuador for more fun, I would probably bring along a lens extension for the smaller butterflies and flowers. But since we had two cameras with us, most of the time one of us had a macro lens, so it worked out great. Hummer photography at Tandayapa is incredibly fun! One of the photographic highlights of the trip was shooting at the feeder station on the patio here at Tandayapa, where most of the hummer shots in this gallery were taken.
