This was another one of those incredible electric blue birds. There are so many species of tanagers in Ecuador (over 150) that everywhere we went there were new tanagers to find. This blue-necked was one of the first tanagers we saw in Ecuador. Like many of Ecuador's avifauna, this species looks different on the eastern slope than this western slope bird we found in Mindo.
