This was the first individual of this species that we had ever seen in the wild, and our first francolin ever. Francolins on the Big Island seemed to act like other mid-sized game birds we know from elsewhere. Sort of sneaky in that they seemed to like to have low growing vegetation to hide in, they often showed up near vegetation, yet out in the open such as along a road or in a hedgerow in a parking lot.
